The Sadder Radio Caroline Legacy
One of the saddest legacies of the offshore pop pirates of 50 years ago is the enthusiast known as an ‘anorak’. Whilst the modern world has moved on and is now mainly indifferent to music radio these pensioners harp on about radio stations coming from ships three or four decades ago as if they are needed today in order to somehow save the world.
Clustering in their various internet...
Honest Sex
I’ve long been sympathetic to people who are into strange and unusual sexual practices like swinging.
I’m not a swinger, honest. That’s mainly because I’m a bit of a private person and I suppose in that respect a little shy, if I’m honest. (I’m very self conscious about my willy. Well, you’d be if you had one that big! F’narr. But seriously, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, it’s just...
Can we 'deprogram' suicide bombers?
On Christmas Day yet another poor soul carried out his programming to blow himself up on an airliner and kill all its occupants in the name of a version of Islam. Luckily for the innocents on board he was unsuccessful in his bid to martyr himself, and was overpowered and arrested.
Yet, I still remain fascinated by the power of the hypnotism process which will convince people so young to blow...

CityTalk to lose its Magic?
Interesting and somewhat sad to hear that all the presenters on Liverpool’s CityTalk have been sacked. Well, not sacked, but are not having their contracts renewed.
I suspect this is the next phase in the push to replace this much needed FM ‘talk’ station with a relay of the ‘AM only’ Magic oldies radio service. It wasn’t that long ago that there was a huge...
That video (2 girls, 1 cup) →
There’s a trend at the moment. It’s the filling of Youtube with videos of people’s reactions as they watch “2Girls 1Cup”, but have you actually watched that video and not felt sick or the need to switch it off? More importantly, has it made you happy or turned you on?
I’ve watched it. Man, I felt ill. Sick. Yeah, I felt like shit. A whole cup full.
Anybody considered that this Global Recession is really just a way of slowing...

Google Wave? What's it for?
I love Google. Fact. Whatever mind-bending drug they transmit that makes them and their products addictive, then, yep, I’m hooked.
I use Google Apps for Domains to host and manage my mail and, well, everything.
But. I don’t ‘get’ Google Wave.
I mean, I do ‘get’ and excessively use the brilliant suite of Google Docs which are by far the greatest...

Scepticism is good
Quite a few decades ago when the thought-gods of environment were telling their drones what to believe about the evils of nuclear power back in the 1980s, I remember an ordinary guy called Ben. He was completely hooked by the environmental religion of the time and on the different days I’d seen him would engage with me in the various discussions about how he was right and I was wrong in our...

Is the sun about to go out? PANIC! PANIC!
What a lovely picture of our Sun in happier times when it used to look after us with the odd flare or two.
Sigh.
Those were the days.
PANIC! PANIC!
Apparently the Sun (that bright thing in the sky, not the newspaper) is about to go out. It’s now in the quietest phase of its 11-year activity cycle called “the solar minimum”, which was expected. BUT, what wasn’t expected or anticipated was...
Bangladesh is drowning →
As you know, the whole man made global warming bandwagon thing is made up. More and more are waking up to the fact that human intervention has neither caused it nor can stop it. It seems to be a natural cyclic event, and is probably one that we’ve seen occurring forever, but just haven’t been equipped to ‘measure’ in the way we can in recent decades.
However, the whodunnit is actually irrelevant....
Will we ever stop the X Factor killing music?
For 3 solid months up to and including every bloody Christmas the charts are taken over and controlled by the X Factor and Simon Cowell.
This wouldn’t be so bad if his fetish was for something other than the handbag shuffling music designed to be played on Heart. But instead that’s what spews out from the show, and all the drones who watch it buy the stuff and nothing else is able to...
Google Chrome
After years of flip-flopping between Internet Explorer and Firefox, I have now settled on the vastly superior Google Chrome.
Internet Explorer always seems slow and has taken until this latest release to actually catch-up with Firefox and the little add-ons that Firefox welcomes. However, Firefox fully loaded with add-ons runs even slower than Internet Explorer.
Then along come Google who slip...
Javier Cuadros on Climategate →
I wrote angrily about the whole ‘Climategate’ scam some days ago (Do a search on christopherengland.com for ‘climate’). Since then it has been one of the hottest topics in blogs and across the net. And rightly so. I could point outwards to many many articles that I approve of for expanding the thought process on this whole subject, but I specifically liked this well...

The incompatibility of the Pope and his drones
This Pope fellow. He went to Australia a few years ago (where they are years ahead of the UK - they cancelled Big Brother way before we finally did!) and included in his ranting was the mention that priests doing what they do best - fiddling about with children sexually - must learn that what they are doing is inappropriate and incompatible with their job as a priest. Hold on a sec here. He...
Charge the dog owners with murder!
So yet another child is mauled to death by a carefully bred and deliberately kept illegal attack dog.
What is the obsession that northerners have with vicious dogs? Their breeds of choice are usually damn ugly, so they are not chosen for beauty. They are not chosen for their obedience, because usually they are completely out of control.
They are chosen because they can and will kill.
They...
